We believe it is important that all children develop a healthy love of their bodies and respect the bodies of others different from their own. Children also need to learn respect for the parameters of personal body space both in language, as well as in touch.
Our teachers plan discussions and activities to focus on taking good care of the body, particularly eyes, ears, teeth, and nutrition. Doctors and other health care professionals may come to visit or children visit them. Classes frequently cook a variety of healthy foods as part of the curriculum and are taught to distinguish between “fun” foods and food for healthy growth. Keeping safe, playing safely, and what to do in emergencies is also introduced and developed according to the age and stage of the children in the group.
